The Nehaunsey Physical Education Award is given to a male and female student from the graduating class of each school year.  The award is aimed to recognize the two students’ overall success in Physical Education during their time at Nehaunsey Middle School.  All students from each grade are considered and assessed on the following criteria:

Overall Fitness

A student must receive the Nehaunsey Physical Fitness Award at least two times during their 3 years at the school. For more information in regards to the fitness award and the Fitness Gram program, please refer to the “Nehaunsey Physical Fitness Award” tab on my website.

Participation

During Physical Education, all students are expected to be full participants in each class.   The two students who receive the Physical Education award go above and beyond to demonstrate a specific level of participation as described below:

They come fully prepared to each class and follow all directions that are given to them during a given period.  There is never a time that they need to be reminded to stay on task or push themselves to become better at a certain task.  The students also show a near mastery of all skills that are taught during class and implement those skills into different game situations where they find overall success.

Sportsmanship

The two students who receive the award have taken on a true leadership role in class.   They not only display overall success in regards to skill work but show the ability to want to help others in class to help them achieve that same level of success.  The students never argue with their classmates or dispute any suggestions/instructions from the teacher.   If the class is participating in a competitive situation, they show respect to all members in the class:  win or lose.
