ART grading policy and expectations

(Broad Street School)

For any questions or personal concerns about assignments,

please contact me directly at [email protected]

Parents of fully remote students-

Completing assignments:

  • All assignments are posted on Google Classroom.

  • Each assignment should be completed by the deadline posted on the assignment.

  • The assignment is ONLY complete when I’ve received photos of the completed work or your child shares their work during Zoom office hours.  (Turning in blank assignments on Google Classroom does not count.)

  • If you are unable to acquire supplies for assignments, please contact me and I will prepare supplies that can be picked up at the school.

Submission Deadlines:

For your own benefit, please follow deadlines set on Google Classroom. Rushing to send in something at the last minute is not conducive to the learning experience and the thought and effort that their art assignments require.

If you are unable to make the deadlines, you can still submit work BUT

  • By progress report time, please make sure that all prior work is caught up to this point.

  • By the end of the marking period, please have ALL assignments submitted.

And if you are submitting late work on Google Classroom, please send a courtesy email to let me know that you’ve submitted it.

Grades will not be changed after the report cards are finalized.

Parents of hybrid students-

In-person meetings are once every other week.  (alternating with Italian).

Students should check Google Classroom in-between our in-person meetings.

Students should read over the assignment and watch any accompanying videos during their remote week, prior to our next in-person meeting.  They can click “Turn In” or “Submit” when they are finished watching the videos.

Students will complete the hands-on part of their assignment in school.

General marking period grading definitions:

S- = Less than satisfactory = Little work has been received or completed.

S = Satisfactory = Work is acceptable.  An assignment may be missing or assignments may be completed incorrectly.

S+ = Above satisfactory =  Completed all assignments but may have missed some of the requirements or aspects of the assignments.

O = Completed all assignments and completed all requirements for the assignments correctly.
