Art Room Class Rules
Safety, Learning, Courtesy and Creativity are most important in the Art Studio.

Raise your hand; do not call out.
Walk quietly in the hall.

School policies apply to the art room at all times. Below you will find Grading Procedures.
Good class participation can be described as:
Following directions and giving your best effort.
Using time wisely.
Exhibiting orderly conduct- self control.
Contributing to a learning class environment.
Promoting respect for yourself and others.
Taking care of your artwork, the art room and supplies.
Grades: A final MP grade is an average of class work grades, a test or large project grade and a participation grade.
Assignments are graded on: following instructions, effort, craftsmanship, creativity, use of materials, and completing work on time.
Students must put their name and grade on ALL of their work and place it in the designated area at the end of class. Unnamed artwork cannot be identified or graded! Remember, many different classes come through the art room every day.
A rubric is posted in class to help students understand the requirements for an excellent, good, passing or not passing grade.
Below is an example grading rubric. A passing grade is 70.

* Students deliberately choosing not to work, missing assignments, or repeatedly interrupting others, can loose points from their starting 70 and potentially earn a failing grade.

Great Consequences! for excellent grades, exceptional effort and participation:
Grades 5-8 students earning a 96 or higher (per marking period) may receive one or more of the following: extra credit, gold slips, stickers, "free draw time" a prize box token, post card or other surprizes.
Consequences for poor choices:
1. Not following Class Rules, being disrespectful or preventing classmates from learning will result in a verbal warning.
2. After a second warning the student may complete an activity to help reflect or amend the incident. Student will resume their art asignment the following week.
3. Repeated or dangerous behavior may result in a lunch detention, a parent-teacher-guidance conference or other disciplinary action to be determined by the Principal.
